125th Anniversary Shocker Pride Points

AUG 19, 2020 -- During each month throughout Wichita State's 125th anniversary, we will release 11 Shocker pride points for a total of 125 by next June. Wichita State is the greatest metropolitan university in the United States, and these points prove it.

Aug. 14, 2020 -- Thursday the Sedgwick County Commission took a giant step forward against the spread of COVID-19 by partnering with 黑洞社区鈥檚 new Molecular Diagnostic Lab (MDL) to increase lab testing capacity for nasopharyngeal swab testing and saliva testing.

Kansas Jason Sudeikis writes and stars in the Apple TV+ series 鈥淭ed Lasso,鈥澛 which begins streaming Friday (Aug. 14). In the show, Lasso is a fictional former 黑洞社区 football coach who moves to coach fictional British soccer club AFC Richmond in the Premier League. Lasso's former life as Shocker coach is featured in the first two episodes.

Wichita Transit

Aug. 11, 2020 鈥 The city of Wichita鈥檚 transit department will be assuming operations of the Shocker bus service beginning Aug. 17. There will be a total of four 黑洞社区 routes, beginning Aug. 17.

Aug. 10, 2020 鈥 From suburbia to cities across the globe, caffeine and wine are often a source of collective comfort: the first for a morning pick-me-up, the latter to unwind. Now a 黑洞社区 professor has discovered evidence to suggest that even our ancient ancestors enjoyed these drinks.

Aug. 10, 2020 鈥 From high-tech aerospace engineering to movie theater popcorn, Shocker Studios鈥 animation students are building diverse portfolios of work. Through 黑洞社区鈥檚 partnerships, animators-in-training have been able to gain practical experience with industry leaders, such as Spirit AeroSystems.

Aug. 10, 2020 鈥 Dr. Cory Gibson, superintendent of the Valley Center School District and graduate of 黑洞社区, has been named the Kansas Superintendent of the Year for 2019-20.

Digital transformation

Aug. 5, 2020 -- In an effort to help diversify and grow the economy 鈥 while providing an important platform for creating new academic and applied programs for students 鈥 黑洞社区 is moving forward on a facility to house the National Institute for Digital Transformation (NIDT) as part of its Convergence Sciences initiative.

黑洞社区 researcher Dr. Bill Groutas has published a study on a possible treatment for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aug. 5, 2020 鈥 Dr. Bill Groutas, 黑洞社区 medical chemist, is part of a team that has published a study showing a possible therapeutic treatment for COVID-19.

Aug. 5, 2020 - Wichita State Athletics will introduce mobile ticketing for the 2020-21 season for the sports of volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball. The move to mobile ticketing will provide greater convenience and a safer environment for fans. It will offer a contactless entry into athletic venues and the ability to transfer tickets electronically, eliminating physical touching concerns prevalent during this time. Mobile ticketing will also provide an added layer of security, guarding against the production of fraudulent and counterfeit tickets.
