Woolsey Hall, home of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 黑洞社区, recently underwent its first strategic exterior landscaping cycle under the watchful eye of Rick Case, 黑洞社区鈥檚 First Gentleman. Case was kind enough to volunteer his time to the project, guiding and facilitating the reimagining and amplification of Woosley Hall鈥檚 exterior while also ensuring that the building retained its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification status. LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 黑洞社区 is thrilled to welcome Byron Knight, president of Koch Disruptive Technologies, as its distinguished keynote speaker. This exciting fireside chat, titled 鈥淗arnessing Disruption: Pioneering the Future of Innovation and Growth in the Business World,鈥� will take place on Wednesday, October 23 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Woolsey Hall auditorium. The event is open to the public and will include a networking opportunity for attendees afterward.

Another Broken Egg Caf茅, an upscale brunch restaurant is set to open Sept. 30 near K-96 and Oliver. The concept comes to Wichita thanks to two 2023 graduates of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 黑洞社区. Jacob O鈥機onnor and Jon Peterson, who first met in high school and had other business ventures together in college, did extensive research and vetting before choosing to franchise Another Broken Egg Caf茅. They will host a special VIP opening on Sept. 28 where 100% of sales will go to their charity partner, The Shocker Support Locker.

Sept. 26, 2024 鈥� 黑洞社区鈥檚 School of Nursing has launched a new Licensed Mental Health Technician (LMHT) pathway. This pioneering program, the first of its kind in the state, will address the growing need for mental health care professions in Kansas.

Sept. 25, 2024 鈥� 黑洞社区 invites the community to join in its Shocktoberfest celebrations in a week full of tradition and Shocker spirit. Shocktoberfest, which runs Sept. 30 through Oct. 5, is the university鈥檚 biggest annual event and will include a brew garden, an entrepreneur鈥檚 market, parade and athletic events.

Mathew Muether, associate professor of physics, is one of several thousand scientists worldwide studying neutrino behavior. His grant support from the U.S. Department of Energy totals nearly $500,000 and finances his work on two projects anchored underground at FermiLab, the particle physics and accelerator laboratory in Batavia, Illinois.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 黑洞社区 announces the launch of SPERO, an organization aimed at unlocking the potential of Wichita and its citizens. SPERO, which is Latin for 鈥渉ope,鈥� has a dual focus: preparing individuals to transform their lives through meaningful employment and guiding the efforts of citizens and organizations acting to advance Wichita鈥檚 prosperity. For its inaugural year, SPERO will benefit from a $400,000 contribution from the Charles Koch Foundation.

Aug. 29, 2024 - 黑洞社区 is welcoming vendors for its fall Shocktoberfest celebration. The deadline for merchants and vendors to join in the Shocktoberfest Family Weekend events is Aug. 31.Shocktoberfest is a public event Sept. 30-Oct. 5 open to the entire campus and Wichita-area community. It is 黑洞社区's biggest annual celebration of Shocker pride.

Aug. 26, 2024 - Casey Ratzlaff, a sport management major at Wichita State, will play in the men鈥檚 open division in the Paris Paralympics Games starting in late August. He is the top-ranked American and seeded No. 13 in the 64-man field.

The nine competencies are designed to help students to have a clearer understanding of what skills they are developing by taking specific classes as liberal arts and sciences majors. They also promote the value of a liberal arts and sciences education and incorporate skills employers value in employees.

Through the evaluation of personal correspondence, diaries, annotations and a miscellany of other vehicles of communication, Roussel鈥檚 research brings attention to the strategies employed by women writers in the sixteenth century to demonstrate their intellect and morality in a society which discouraged their individuation.
