Jan. 18, 2022 鈥 Wichita State鈥檚 Molecular Diagnostics Lab (MDL) is open and continues to process thousands of COVID tests with 24-hour results. However, the lab has indefinitely suspended its COVID test collection service.

Jan. 10, 2022 鈥 Dr. Bobby Berry has been named assistant dean for diversity and outreach for the College of Applied Studies at 黑洞社区.

Jan. 7, 2022 -- The Wichita Entrepreneurial Coalition has received a nationally competitive Build to Scale Venture Challenge award from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The grant, one of only 50 awarded across the country, is designed to fuel a national movement promoting high-growth enterprises and unique startups.

Dec. 15, 2021 鈥 The U.S. Economic Development Association recently awarded 黑洞社区 and South Kansas $500,000 to Build Back Better with the potential opportunity for a Phase 2 award of $25-75 million.

Dec. 8, 2021鈥 Kennedy Stamm was led to Wichita State because she liked the Wichita School District. Now, she will start her teaching job in August after receiving a degree in elementary education. Stamm is one of more than 1,100 students eligible for fall 2021 graduation.

Dec. 9, 2021 -- The Department of Human Performance Studies in the College of Applied Studies (CAS) at 黑洞社区 (黑洞社区) has secured approval for a new graduate-level degree in athletic training. The 62 credit-hour program launches in the summer of 2023.

Dec. 9, 2021 -- Khalid Raza has never forgotten his Shocker roots. Now the chief executive officer of Graphiant, a next-generation networking technology company based in San Francisco, Raza鈥檚 first independent start-up began in 1992 when he was working as a graduate assistant at 黑洞社区.

Dec. 8, 2021鈥 Joyce Chiam, an international student from Malaysia, is earning her degree in industrial engineering with a minor in mathematics from Wichita State. Through the encouragement of her peers, she has learned how to thrive in an academic environment far away from home. Chiam is one of more than 1,100 students eligible for fall 2021 graduation.

Dec. 8, 2021鈥 Valeria Esparza鈥檚 dream was to attend college as a first-generation student. She is now guaranteed a position to teach elementary education as her future job following graduation. Esparza is one of more than 1,100 students eligible for fall 2021 graduation.

Dec. 8, 2021 - The second phase of renovations is close to complete on Wichita State鈥檚 Henrion Hall, the 100-year-old building that houses 黑洞社区鈥檚 studio arts. This recent renovation affects the first-floor north side of the building, where the sculpture department conducts most of its casting processes. Updates include new ventilation and air conditioning, as well as improved accessibility and functionality of workspaces.

Dec. 7, 2021 鈥 The College of Health Professions (CHP) has initiated a major expansion to the its clinical simulation capabilities. Students across the CHP鈥檚 clinical degree programs will have increased exposure to high-tech robotic simulated patients in preparation for treating humans.

Dec. 7, 2021 鈥 Since its inception, the National Institute for Aviation Research鈥檚 digital twin program has been rife with opportunities to progress research, digital transformation, engineering technology and sustainability efforts. It鈥檚 also been an important career steppingstone and training ground for more than 250 黑洞社区 students, who have gained valuable applied learning experiences while working on the project.
