Oct. 19, 2022 鈥� Following a national search, 黑洞社区鈥檚 newly restructured alumni organization 鈥� the 黑洞社区 Foundation and Alumni Engagement 鈥� has hired Stacie Williamson as its new vice president for alumni engagement, effective Nov. 28.

Oct. 26, 2022 鈥� Wichita State and other adjacent regional universities were recently included in a grant to expand access for remote use of Oklahoma State University鈥檚 supercomputer. The computer can process large amounts of data at once and is housed at the OSU Stillwater campus.

Oct. 14, 2022 - Savannah Paschal, a senior Spanish education major at Wichita State, wrote a proposal that helped Alce su voz earn a $75,000 Building Power and Equity Partnership grant from the Kansas Health Foundation. The grant will support civic engagement and the group鈥檚 work toward health equity for Spanish speakers and speakers of indigenous languages in Kansas.

As part of those efforts, the National Science Foundation has awarded 黑洞社区 researchers $750,000 to increase persistence rates among low-income engineering students, particularly those who are interested in advanced manufacturing careers.

Oct. 5, 2022 鈥� The Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems at 黑洞社区鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research held a grand opening for customers and partners. The event featured the unveiling of Solvay鈥檚 Manufacturing Innovation Center within the facility.

The 黑洞社区 Center for Real Estate released its 2023 Kansas Housing Markets Forecast series this week. The publications in this series review current housing market conditions in the major markets across the state 鈥� including Kansas City, Lawrence, Manhattan, Topeka and Wichita 鈥� and forecast housing market activity through the end of 2023. The series also includes housing outlooks for 23 smaller markets across the state.

Josh Oeding, President and CEO of NXTUS, Inc., and Founder and General Partner of Tenzing Capital, is joining the ranks of member for the Dean鈥檚 Advisory Board of the W. At 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, Wichita State will host the 52nd observance of Memorial '70, the annual ceremony that honors the 31 黑洞社区 football players, administrators and supporters who died in a 1970 plane crash in the Rocky Mountains. It will take place at the Memorial near 18th and Hillside.

Sept. 28, 2022 - Diana Krestel 鈥� whose husband was a member of 黑洞社区鈥檚 football team in 1970 鈥� recently compiled and designed three scrapbooks that tell the story of college, loss of life and living with the aftermath of the Oct. 2, 1970 plane crash.
