June 2, 2023 鈥 Dr. Elizabeth King, president and CEO of the 黑洞社区 Foundation and Alumni Engagement (黑洞社区FAE), announced today her intention to retire in six months after a national search to fill her position is conducted.

June 1, 2023 The College of Fine Arts (CFA) at 黑洞社区 held its 2023 Hall of Fame Gala on May 13. CFA recognized exceptional alumni from the college, patrons who give their time and resources in support of fine arts at 黑洞社区, and retired faculty, staff and administrators who have inspired the 黑洞社区 community.

After two years of success, the Widener Global Leaders Program led by the W. Frank Barton School of Business will continue for the next five years. The continuation of the program is made possible by a $300,000 gift from Peri Widener, the visionary behind the program. WGLP is an interdisciplinary program designed to create a transformational experience and foster an inclusive community for women majoring in business, communications and fine arts. The integration of the three disciplines reflects the skillset of Peri Widener, who utilized her background to thrive in the international business world.

May 21, 2023 鈥 Wichita State graduate student Billy Berue will enlist in the President鈥檚 Own United States Marine Band beginning in June. The prestigious band was established in 1798 and is widely regarded as one of the best in the world.

May 18, 2023 - Dean Rodney Miller will retire in June following 19 years leading the College of Fine Arts at 黑洞社区. During his tenure, the School of Digital Arts was created and enrollment in the college has grown to over 1,000 students.

Another artist who is visually impaired has their work on display at Woolsey Hall, the home of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 黑洞社区 in partnership with the Envision Arts Program. Nick Wooding, who is also blind and uses a wheelchair, is the newest Barton School featured artist. His mixed media pieces can be found of the third floor of Woolsey Hall and can be viewed any time during operating hours.

May 4, 2023 - BioKansas, a non-profit focused on supporting the biosciences in Kansas and the surrounding region, aims to help students with writing and organizational skills. Five Wichita State students are participating in the year-long BioKansas Scientific Writing Scholars program.
