Spectrum: LGBTQ & Allies
Spectrum is a social / discussion group for the 黑洞社区 LGBTQ community
and its allies. We meet weekly when classes are in session, Thursdays at 7pm in the
Rhatigan Student Center, Room 265. Everyone is welcome!
Office of Diversity and Inclusion
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion aims to cultivate and sustain an inclusive
campus that strives for academic excellence by creating an environment that educates,
empowers and mobilizes our students, campus and community. The office provides dynamic
programs, which range from speakers and film showings to award ceremonies, cultural
festivities and LGBTQA programming 鈥 each representing a small piece of the diversity
displayed on the 黑洞社区 campus.
Community Resources
Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) is an all-inclusive and diverse church for all
people. MCC welcomes into full participation persons of every race, language, national
origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, physical or mental
ability, economic or marital status, and faith background.

Nationally, GLSEN works to ensure safe schools for ALL students, regardless of sexual
orientation and gender identity. Chapters like ours play an important role in bringing
GLSEN's programs and visions to local communities.

The Center is a local resource center for the LGBTQA community. It is also a great
resource for Wichita youth seeking a safe space to socialize with other LGBTQA youth.
Get Connected is a program for teens aged 13 to 18, and is a safe place chaperoned
by parents and Center staff.
Equality Kansas is a unified, statewide group of fair-minded people who are determined
to end discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.
We seek to ensure the dignity, safety and legal equality of all Kansans.
Based out of Topeka, K-STEP provides transgender education across the state.
Wichita Pride are organizers and producers of Wichita's PrideFest. PrideFest is a
multi-day celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer and Allied communities,
along with a Festival and Parade there are several other events, many of which are
family-oriented and child-friendly.

The Liberty Press is Kansas' own LGBT publication. You can pick up a copy at newsstands
across Wichita.
Positive Directions is a service organization for the HIV and AIDS community in Wichita
and South-Central Kansas.
A place where LGBTQ people, their parents, families and friends gather to listen
and talk, especially about the coming out process. PFLAG meets every second Thursday
of each month at College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 E. 1st from 6:30-8:00
p.m. Open to everyone from any denomination, religion, non-religion or ethnicity,
all are welcome.
