Get Involved with PASS!

There are multiple ways you can get involved, such as being a mentee, a peer mentor or becoming a tutor! You will also receive various benefits by participating in Promoting Academic Student Success:

Become a Mentee

You must be a domestic undergraduate freshman at 黑洞社区.

When becoming a mentee within PASS, your expectations are:

  • Engage with your assigned peer mentor virtually or in person
  • Attend at least two campus events with your peer mentor
  • Complete ten (10) hours of community service a year (coordinated as a PASS cohort or with mentor)
  • Meet once a month with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion through meetings or 1:1 sessions, as needed and/or requested by Peer Mentor and/or ODI Staff
  • Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA

Become a Peer Mentor

You must be a sophomore, junior or senior at 黑洞社区, who is willing to give individual attention to the assigned students. A mentor's primary responsibility is to facilitate the transition of these students to 黑洞社区 by working with them as a guide and resource through this process.

When you become a peer mentor within PASS, your expectations are:

  • Serving as a peer mentor to 10 to 15 incoming first-year students while identifying and addressing the specific needs of underrepresented students
  • Attend and actively contribute to all mandatory meetings (schedules will be provided by the retention specialist)
  • Develop, coordinate and implement logistics for socials and academic activities, programs/events and presentations on- and off-campus
  • Maintain regular (in-person, email or phone) communication with the cohort of mentees
  • Attend at least two campus events with mentees
  • Participate in any required training sessions and orientations (which may include some evenings and weekends)
