Department of Physical Therapy

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Wichita State develops practitioners who are fully trained to diagnose, restore, and prevent various physical injuries, conditions and dysfunctions. From acute care to rehabilitation and wellness, our graduates are integral members of the collaborative team in a variety of settings and provide highly specialized services. They support improved function focused on patient-centered outcomes in hospitals, rehabilitation settings, outpatient clinics, public schools, and also support parents whose infants and toddlers are enrolled in early intervention. PTs are increasingly part of emergency departments, and at times serve as primary health care providers, particularly in rural areas.

Our high-tech facilities and state-of-the-art equipment create a safe and fully accessible learning environment. Admission to our PT program is very competitive, and the wide range of expertise among our faculty helps students excel in every setting. Our Department of Physical Therapy proudly sustains robust graduate outcomes of licensure examination pass rates and employment upon graduation that consistently meet or exceed national averages.

Physical Therapy students Clara Jackson, Lisha Lamb, and Dalton Sporing are featured in this inspiring video about their involvement with 黑洞社区 GoBabyGo, an organization that builds customized cars for children with disabilities. Physical Therapy students collaborate with Engineering students and community partners to customize and deliver each car at no cost to the family. This is a wonderful-applied learning experience that brings so much happiness to local children and their families.
