Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity
The Cybersecurity program focuses on how to apply computer technology skills and a broad understanding of these skills in the real world. Focusing on experiential and applied learning, students prepare for careers in computer analytics, cybersecurity, data analysis, game development, and social media applications. This degree consists of a set of required core courses plus a selection of stackable certificates that provide a flexible plan of study for students. The certificates were developed through discussions with industry leaders, ensuring that students learn the subjects they most need to be successful in today鈥檚 job market.

Student Outcomes
"Student outcomes (SOs) describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that students acquire as they progress through the program." The faculty approved SOs for the B.S. Cybersecurity program (adopted from the ABET CAC) are:
Graduates of the program will have an ability to:
- Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
- Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program鈥檚 discipline.
- Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
- Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program鈥檚 discipline.
Program Educational Objectives
"Program educational objectives (PEOs) are broad statements that describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years after graduation. Program educational objectives are based on the needs of the program鈥檚 constituencies."
We define two PEOs for our Cybersecurity program, where at least one of the PEOs should be attained by graduates:
- The alumni, in the first several years after receiving their baccalaureate degree,
will be productive and successful in the professional practice of computing, as evidenced
by:
- Job satisfaction and contributions toward the success of one鈥檚 employers;
- Effective participation and leadership on cross-functional teams;
- Being effective in identifying and solving real-world problems;
- Being effective at handling increased responsibilities;
- Receipt of job-related awards, promotions/raises, and professional accomplishments.
- The alumni, in the first several years after receiving their baccalaureate degree,
will be successful in pursuing continuing education as evidenced by:
- Effective progression toward an advanced post-undergraduate degree or professional certification;
- Participation in professional societies, professional conferences and meetings;
- Participation in life-long learning by adapting to new technologies, tools and methodologies in computing, and responding to the challenges of a changing environment;
- Scholarly accomplishments (e.g., publications, presentations);
- Professional self-study.
If you are a member of one the program's constituencies (faculty, student, alumni, employer) you can leave feedback on our PEOs by .
