Get ready to explore Wichita through the lens of a camera in this hands-on outdoor photography class. Intro to Voiceovers: Getting Started in Voice Acting

You鈥檒l learn about different types of voiceovers and tools needed to find success. Your instructor, a professional voice actor from Voices For All, will take notes as you read a real script in this one-on-one video chat setting, and offer some coaching to improve your delivery. Day Trips

Walking Level Key

Level 1: Relaxing 鈥 Days tend to be shorter in length with a slow pace. Light physical activity is required, such as walking 10-15 minutes with little difficulty and able to climb a few steps.
Level 2: Leisurely 鈥 Some days are longer than others but move at a consistent pace. Passengers should be able to easily climb a flight of stairs, stand for short periods of time and walk for reasonable distances, possibly over uneven terrain (cobblestones, gravel, etc).
Level 3: Moderate 鈥 Days tend to be longer and operate at a quicker pace. Expect to stand and walk for long periods with changes in gradient, terrain.
Level 4: Active 鈥 Days are long and move at a more vigorous pace. Scheduled activities may require physical effort and require passengers to be in good shape. Expect long periods of walking and standing on rough surfaces.

 

Greenwood Rising: Experience Black Wall Street

Join us for a trip like no other to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where we will immerse ourselves in the rich history of the Greenwood District, renowned both as a Black business mecca and the site of racial violence. Our day begins at OSU Tulsa with a briefing and video to set the stage for our visit. We鈥檒l then explore the Greenwood Rising exhibit, which tells the powerful story of a community that transformed trials and tragedy into triumph through personal stories of entrepreneurship and resilience. After the exhibit, we will have a wonderful lunch at Fixins Tulsa. Fixins seeks to set the standard for the American soul food experience by offering authentic soul food and impeccable service in a hip, energetic atmosphere. Our journey continues with a visit to John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park in the Historic Greenwood District, a memorial that honors the struggles and rebuilding efforts following the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre with the goal of turning tragedy into triumph by providing a place for reconciliation and understanding. There will be a short stop on the way home for a self pay snack. Join us for this profound and inspiring day of learning, reflection and growth.

Walking Tour: McCormick School Neighborhood

Walking Level 3

This semester, our local walking tour looks to the south and west. The McCormick School neighborhood has so much rich history and offers a fantastic way to explore Wichita鈥檚 past and present. We take in the full swath of local history from a time before there was even a city to current demographic trends. During our walk, we鈥檒l explore the islands that once graced the Arkansas River, buildings that told of boom times in the 1880s, and a glimpse of the industrial and railroad history that we pass on the highway. We will also explore how immigration and social changes have transformed this part of our city, providing insights into where might go into the future. Lunch will be provided at Gabby鈥檚 Peruvian Restaurant.

Western Kansas: A Journey into a Colorful Past

Join us for an unforgettable journey into Western Kansas, where we鈥檒l explore the rich history and resilience of the pioneers. Our first stop is the Medicine Lodge Stockade Museum, offering a glimpse into 1870s stockade life and the community spirit of early settlers seeking a new life in the West. Next, we鈥檒l visit the Carry Nation Home, where Carry Nation famously began her crusade against saloons in 1900. We鈥檒l then enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch at Buster鈥檚 Saloon in Sun City, surrounded by the scenic Gypsum Hills. Our adventure continues to Meade to visit the Dalton Gang Hideout, the former home of Eva Dalton Whipple and a legendary escape tunnel used by the infamous gang. We鈥檒l wrap up our historical tour at the Meade County Historical Society Museum, showcasing the lifestyle of early settlers in Western Kansas. Our trip concludes with a quick meal in Pratt before heading home. Join us for a day filled with history, stories, and adventure! Exploring Salina鈥檚 Wonders

Walking Level 3

How about a fun day in Salina? Join us for a day of history, cars, art and more! We鈥檒l start at the Smoky Hill Museum, Kansas鈥檚 oldest, nationally accredited, hands-on history museum, where interactive exhibits make history come alive for all. After exploring the museum鈥檚 fascinating displays and over 34,000 artifacts, we鈥檒l enjoy a delicious lunch from Martinelli鈥檚 at the Visit Salina Annex, where we鈥檒l also learn more about the wonderful things Salina has to offer. Next, we鈥檒l head to The Garage Automotive Museum featuring the Crossroads Car Experience which includes classic cars that have been restored to pristine condition, a gift shop, drink and snack bar, beer on tap and interactive exhibits that will entertain the entire group. Our final stop is a self-guided sculpture walking tour of downtown Salina. Between 15-25 sculptures are selected and carefully sited in historic downtown Salina. To cap off our day, we鈥檒l stop by the Cozy Inn to pick up their famous burgers for the drive home. Join us for a memorable day in Salina filled with discovery and fun! Come enjoy this hands-on opportunity to make cream cheese wontons and Thai red curry w/chicken and Jasmine rice. You will learn how to prepare cream cheese wontons and fry them up perfectly for an amazing appetizer treat. Next, you will learn how to make Thai red curry w/chicken, how to cut the vegetables properly for this dish and learn about the various types of Thai curries. There will be time for Q&A during class and a chance to taste your yummy creations. Varietal Comparison: Zinfandel and Malbec

Zinfandel - America鈥檚 Grape and Malbec - the Argentine Queen. This two class series will provide an in-depth overview of each specific grape variety, its origins, history and flavor profile. Thai Cuisine Cooking Class

Foundations of Yoga and Beyond

Hatha Yoga

Introduction to Bridge by ACBL

Here is an opportunity to try these instruments in person! You will learn basic techniques to get started, play various handpan scales and decide if one resonates with you. You will have an opportunity to purchase a handpan and leave with the confidence to start your handpan journey today! Dots, Bams, and Cracs, Oh My! Learn American Mah Jongg

Discover the world of American Mah Jongg, a captivating rummy-like game played with symbolled domino-like tiles. This class introduces you to the strategies and intricacies of the game, where the challenge lies in selecting the optimal winning strategy based on the tiles dealt to you. American Mah Jongg is played with tiles featuring Dots, Bams and Cracs, combining skill, logic and chance in every session. Typically played with four players, adaptations exist for two or three players. Each game lasts approximately 15 minutes, making it both engaging and time-efficient. Participants receive the latest league rule card and comprehensive guidebook. The class spans two weeks, culminating in a final session dedicated to three hours of immersive gameplay. Whether you鈥檙e new to the game or looking to refine your skills, this course promises an enriching experience in a friendly and supportive environment.

Fly Fishing: Casting

Learn more about the art of casting a fly rod in this course! Fly Fishing: The Basics

This course is for the beginner and the intermediate interested in learning more about fly fishing. This is a lecture-based course that will cover all aspects of the sport, from the history of the sport to the equipment needed to get started. Students will receive information about how to buy their first fly rod and reel. Participants will also get hands-on training on how to tie knots while on the water as well as how to rig a fly rod for fishing different types of flies. Other topics covered during this course will include gear, fly lines, entomology, reading water, conservation and etiquette. This class is focused on trout fishing but will also cover some warm water fish. All equipment will be provided.

Fall Floral Arranging

Cancellation Policy

A student who withdraws a minimum of 24 hours prior to the first class will receive a registration refund less 15%. Failure to attend class does not constitute withdrawal. All withdrawals must be received in writing and postmarked prior to the first class meeting. No refunds will be issued after the first class meeting. We will refund 100% of your registration fee if the class you wish to take is full or if the class is canceled.

TRIP CANCELLATION

A 15% administrative fee will be assessed on all cancellations received more than 7 days prior to departure. NO REFUNDS will be issued within 6 days of trip departure.
