Benefits to participants:                                                                    

  • Deepen and foster your knowledge and instructional skills to teach space sciences using NASA resources and NGSS 3D learning.
  • $500 to cover the costs of time and effort during the workshop.
  • $300 to cover the costs of time and effort to implement the lessons and participate in three Zoom instructional coaching sessions.
  • $125 to purchase supplies/materials for your classroom teaching the lessons.
  • Three graduate credits for the workshop and distance-based instructional coaching during the fall semester, 2019 (*Tuition will be paid by the project).
  • Provided with instructional materials and resources (e.g. space sciences lessons with hands-on activities using NASA resources, instructional technologies such as AR & VR, web-based simulations, etc.)

 Participants will:

  • Engage in S2HAP units with hands-on activities.
  • Engage in reflective group discussions with other middle school science teachers, STEM instructional coaches, and 黑洞社区 faculty.
  • Practice teaching a select S2HAP lesson and teach two select lessons in your classroom during the fall semester, 2019.
  • Be assisted by STEM success coaches throughout the workshop and 2019 fall semester.
