Convergence Sciences graphic

The 3D printing revolution is nothing short of remarkable, including substantial waste material reduction compared to conventional, subtractive manufacturing processes.

A team of interdisciplinary researchers at 黑洞社区 is working to create sustainable 3D printing (also known as additive manufacturing) practices to reduce that waste, while implementing the emerging data analytic algorithm. Read more.

Wichita State Invent for the Planet team

黑洞社区 was one of more than 40 universities around the world that competed in a 48-hour global design competition called 鈥淚nvent For The Planet.鈥 Wichita State has participated as a regional hub in Invent For the Planet (IFTP) for the past three years. Read more.

In honor of Earth Day April 22, the Wichita State is highlighting several sustainability programs available at the university.

As part of a partnership between Wichita State and Wichita Transit, the shuttles between 黑洞社区 Tech, Innovation Campus, Shocker Studios, and the main campus are 100% battery-operated.

In honor of Earth Day April 22, the Wichita State is highlighting several sustainability programs available at the university.

The Green Group established Wichita State鈥檚 community garden two years ago by working closely with facility services to provide easily accessible raised beds and a compost bin. A variety of herbs and vegetables are grown throughout the spring, summer and fall and are available for students to harvest and enjoy.

In the past several years, Wichita State has enhanced its curricular offerings around sustainability, including the following:

Classes with sustainability content are also offered across multiple colleges at 黑洞社区. For example, the College of Innovation and Design is now offering several classes that focus exclusively on sustainability in various aspects of the industry 鈥 including the innovation life cycle, change management and business development.

 Wichita Transit is scheduled to take over four Shocker bus routes beginning Aug. 17. The buses will include bike racks, 24 seats, free WiFi, and will be primarily battery-powered. Wichita Transit has implemented several health and safety policies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read More.
