Celebrate Women's History Month with ODI
Every year, March is designated as Women's History Month to celebrate and honor women's contributions to history, culture and society. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion proudly celebrates Women's History Month every year. Learn more about the programs at .
Women's History Month derived from a week-long celebration of women's contributions to culture, history and society organized by the school district of Sonoma, California in 1978. Several years later, the idea was caught on within communities, school districts and organizations across the country. By 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8 as National Women's History Week. Thereafter, the U.S. Congress passed a resolution establishing a national celebration. Approximately six years later, the National Women's History Project petitioned Congress to expand the event to the entire month of March.

Monroy wins teaching award
Congratulations to Dr. Salinas Monroy on winning the Academy for Effective Teaching Award. Monroy is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Established in 1996, these awards are given by Wichita State's Academy for Effective Teaching, a group of outstanding emeriti faculty nominated for membership by current faculty and staff at Wichita State. Recipients of the AET Award are chosen through a multi-stage process.
