Overview

Xiaomi Hu is a Professor of Statistics. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Statistics at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1993. After graduation, he assumed a Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Statistics at the University of South Carolina. He was hired by 黑洞社区 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in 1994.

Xiaomi Hu's early research interests lie in order restricted inference and related computation algorithms. He extended the inference to closed convex cone constraint settings, and established the unbiasedness of the LRT, which was conjectured by researchers.

He worked on the quality parameters used in aviation composite material industry namely A-basis and B-basis at the National Center for Advanced Material Performance during the summers 2005-2012. Several theses of his Master students are on such topics.

His recent interests lie in multivariate order and multivariate order restrictions. He proposed a Pseudo RMLE under simple ordering restrictions and created an algorithm that makes use of the projections onto order generating cone in the computations for the projection onto order restricted cones.
