Master'sAthletic Training

Wichita State鈥檚 Master of Science (MS) in athletic training prepares students for careers working with athletes in the areas of injury / illness prevention and assessment, first aid and emergency care. This comprehensive program, combining classroom and on-the-job learning, is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (CAATE), 2001 K Street NW, Third Floor North, Washington, DC 20006 USA. The program is currently applying to the CAATE for a change in level of degree and is pending approval.

Applied learning at Wichita State

Admission to the program

Admission to the master鈥檚 degree program in athletic training requires:

  • Completion of an accredited undergraduate degree
  • A minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Completion of all prerequisite coursework

Curriculum

Candidates are required to successfully complete all components of the Master of Science in athletic training (MSAT) program, which consists of 62 total credit hours. Requirements for graduation relate to coursework, applied learning experiences, research project and a comprehensive exam. In addition, candidates will apply and sit for their Board of Certification exam during their last semester.
