Don't miss the Honors Halloween Party!

WHEAT will be hosting a Halloween party on Thursday, October 29, from 5 - 8 p.m. in RSC 233 (Santa Fe room). There will be candy, crafts, and games so come have fun and earn Honors House points!

UMKC School of Law will be hosting an information session on Thursday, October 29, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. . After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.


WHEAT is hosting a food drive!

Donate to the Shocker Support Locker and ICT Community Fridge by placing non-perishable items in the box next to the front door of the Honors College now until October 31.

What happens when you bring together 2 classes into 1 learning experience led by 5 faculty thought leaders? You build a dual intellectual community of Honors students and faculty exploring 1 annual theme and many messy problems. Welcome to the Lead for Tomorrow experience. Honors students have big dreams and ask big questions that don鈥檛 fit neatly into disciplinary models and majors. They want to leave a legacy. Join us for the inaugural Lead for Tomorrow鈥檚 2021 theme, 鈥淭he Stories We Weave: Understanding Culture and Community through visual and verbal stories.鈥 Check out more information, including how to apply at .

Mark your calendar for the next Honors Hour

The next Honors Hour will be on Friday, November 6, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. ALL students (not just Honors students) are invited to this information session about the Goldwater Scholarship and writing personal statements for competitive applications. The presenters will be Dr. Coleen Pugh, Dean of the Graduate School and Associate Vice President, and Aaron Coffey, Assistant Dean of the Graduate School. The Zoom link will be in the next weekly update.


Participate in MULTIBUBBLE, a community art project, on November 6!

Wichita State's ShiftSpace Gallery invites students and community members to build an inflatable bubble using simple materials and step-by-step instructions provided by guest artist Kylie Brown. MULTIBUBBLE will light up downtown on Friday, November 6, from 6 - 9 p.m. It will be outside Groover Labs located at 334 St. Francis Ave. It's part of Get Lit: A Night of Light, a First Friday event in collaboration with Wichita Festivals, Inc.

The first 20 students to register will receive a free "bubble kit" containing all materials needed to build their bubble.

   3. Sign up for the "trial run" on October 24. The workshop will be led by the artist and             participants should come ready to inflate their MULTIBUBBLEs and troubleshoot any         problems. There are limited tickets available so sign up today!
      
   
Workshop participation is recommended but not required. Masks and social distancing are required to make this a safe and fun experience for all. Thank you for your cooperation.

1 week left to register for the Kansas Honors Connections Conference

Connect with honors students throughout the state of Kansas and take part in the sixth Kansas Honors Connections Conference on Saturday, November 7. This virtual conference is hosted by Emporia State University.

Registration costs $10 and closes October 30. .

Apply for funding for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Grants Program is now accepting applications for grants of up to $1,000 for undergraduate students pursuing research or creative projects.

Students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a GPA of at least 2.5 and at least two semesters remaining at 黑洞社区 (including the semester in which you apply), are full-time, and have a faculty research mentor are eligible. Preference is given to projects not otherwise funded and previous awardees are not eligible.

FREE printing & how to utilize it!

Free printing is one of the many perks of being an Honors Student here at Wichita State. If you are an Honors student looking to take advantage of this privilege, come to the Honors College located in the ground level of Shocker Hall from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Located in this space are multiple computers. Log into any one of them using your my黑洞社区 ID and password. From there, you will automatically be connected to our printer in the lounge.
