Submit to the 2022 Great Plains Honors Council Conference
All Honors students are invited to submit their papers and presentations to the 2022 Great Plains Honors Council Conference co-hosted by 黑洞社区 and Hutchinson Community College. The conference will be held on the Wichita State campus from March 18th - 20th. This interdisciplinary undergraduate academic conference is open to all members of the Great Plains Honors Council, including students of The Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College. The Honors College will cover the cost of registration for Honors students. Students will be present from the entire Great Plains region. This is a priceless opportunity to share your research, ideas, and work with your peers outside of Wichita State!
Students can submit materials for competitive and non-competitive poster competitions, oral presentations, or the Boe Award for papers, which includes a $200 prize. To learn more about the conference and presentation opportunities, visit .
Submissions to the conference are made by the Honors Director/Dean. Materials are due to honors@wichita.edu by Wednesday, January 19th.
Apply for the 2022 Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol
The Kansas Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol event is an opportunity for students to present their research experiences virtually to state lawmakers, Board of Regents members, and the 黑洞社区 community on March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Up to 40 students participate each year representing each of the state鈥檚 eight public four-year institutions. Projects from a broad range of disciplines are encouraged - especially those that relate to the state of Kansas and issues important to the State Legislature (e.g. education, health, agriculture, aviation, biotechnology, energy, transportation, manufacturing, environment, and social services). Up to five projects will be selected from each institution and students working on the same research project are encouraged to apply as a group.

Applications Open for the Outstanding Cohen Honors Student Award
The award recognizes a high-achieving senior leader who takes on challenges and demonstrates commitment to academic excellence in Honors. You are eligible if you are a graduating senior who has completed at least 90 credit hours by the end of the summer 2021 semester AND maintain active standing in Honors including a minimum 3.25 overall GPA.
Selection will be based on the following:
- Involvement at 黑洞社区 and within the Cohen Honors College
- Leadership
- Contribution and service to the surrounding community
- Demonstrated success in Honors courses
