Health Professions donates masks

College of Health Professions donates face masks to 黑洞社区 community

If you walk around the 黑洞社区 campus this summer, the odds are good you鈥檒l see someone sporting a 黑洞社区 face mask.

The abundance of masks on campus is due in part to the College of Health Professions, who donated 2,500 cloth face masks to the 黑洞社区 community for the campus reopening May 26.

The idea for the donation came from Stephen Arnold, interim dean of the College of Health Professions. Arnold is a member of the Health and Safety Committee 鈥 one of seven university committees formed to develop plans for reopening campus amid the Coronavirus pandemic. He said the group took into consideration state and federal guidance, and made the recommendation that all employees be provided with reusable masks as 黑洞社区 moved forward with the reintegration plan.

Cowley, 黑洞社区 add aerospace engineering to articulation agreement

Leaders of 黑洞社区 and Cowley College have signed an agreement that adds aerospace engineering to a list of degrees that students can start at Cowley and complete at 黑洞社区.

Cowley pre-engineering graduates will enter 黑洞社区 with second semester sophomore status, as they transfer 48 credit hours from Cowley to 黑洞社区. Students would then need to complete at least 81 hours of coursework to receive a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Wichita State College of Engineering.

鈥淭his partnership is a win for students who choose to start their education at a local community college, but want to continue their education in the engineering field,鈥 said Dr. Steven Skinner, College of Engineering associate dean for undergraduate studies, finance and administration. 鈥淭his agreement assures there is no time or effort lost for those students.鈥

Existing agreements already allow for students to begin at Cowley and finish at Wichita State to complete biomedical engineering, business administration, computer engineering, computer science, criminal justice, electrical engineering, general business, industrial engineering and product design and manufacturing engineering studies.

Campus visits resume

Campus visits have resumed

Prospective students and their guests are again able to visit campus in person. Students visiting campus will be able to do the following:

  • Sit in on an admissions presentation
  • Tour the campus, Shocker Hall and the Innovation Campus with a Shocker Navigator
  • Meet one-on-one with an admissions staff member
  • Receive a FREE Wichita State T-shirt

The admissions staff is monitoring the geographic locations students are from when they register, so if a student were to register from a state on the current KDHE travel list, they will be notified in advance of their visit about additional precautions and actions to take.

Campus visits will be limited to a certain number of students per session, as well as the size of the tour group per Shocker Navigator.

Virtual campus visits will remain an option for any students who are not yet ready to visit campus. Students can go to  to register for both.
