New hydrogeology site provides unique chances for students, researchers
Wichita State can now list a 10-well hydrogeology field site among its assets for student applied learning and professional research projects.
Hydrogeology professor Andrew Swindle had the idea for the site and started contacting consulting companies to see how he could get his idea off the ground.
The site, which was finished during the fall 2019 semester, includes nine 2-inch wells and one 6-inch well that allow water flow and direction to be measured accurately.

Event recap: Gore Core
Gore Core is an event hosted by Student Ambassador Society for the prospective students who are named semifinalists in the DSI competition. This year, 82 semifinalists were invited to attend, and as you can see by the photo above, they had a great time.
The event began at the RSC with pizza, bowling, and ice breakers. Students then had the opportunity to take a tour around Wichita on a party bus. At each stop, they were tasked to come up with a creative photo or video. Judging from the social media posts, the students enjoyed their time on campus and in the city, met new people, and were able to experience Wichita State in a setting different than the recruitment events many of them previously attended.
Finalists in the DSI competition will be invited to attend callbacks on Thursday, Jan. 23.
