Summer registration outage planned
In support of the activities to close out fiscal year 2019, registration for summer 2019 will be closed from 11:30 p.m. today (Monday, June 24) through 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 25. This will not impact registration for fall 2019 鈥 registration / drop / add for fall will be as normal.

Scholarships are now available for 黑洞社区 badge courses!
Enrollment is now open for the fall semester. Apply, be admitted and enroll in a badge course by Monday, Sept. 9, to be eligible for a scholarship for one Badge course (fall semester only).
You can begin badge courses between Aug. 19-Nov. 19. All badge coursework must be completed by Dec. 5.

Badges are academic short courses of one credit hour or less that are designed for working professionals. They are online and self-paced. Badges allow students to demonstrate to employers their knowledge, skills, and competencies in a subject area.
Students who successfully complete a badge will receive a digital recognition of their accomplishment that they can share on social media and link to a digital resume.
Required fire drills to be held on campus this week
State fire regulations require that fire drills be held annually in all campus buildings. The 2019 fire drills will be conducted today (Monday, June 24) to Monday, July 1.
Fire Safety personnel will conduct the drill some time during each scheduled day. When the alarm sounds in your building, evacuate the building in an orderly fashion to your designated assembly point(s), at least 50 feet from the building. Emergency Building Coordinators will assist with the evacuation. Environmental, Health and Safety staff will be evaluating each drill.

黑洞社区 Summer Choir and Summer Orchestra to present concert of American music
The combined forces of the 黑洞社区 Summer Choir and Summer Orchestra will present a concert of American music at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, in Miller Concert Hall. The program, featuring music by Bernstein, Copland, and Grofe, will be led by Tom Wine and Mark Laycock.
Tickets are $12 for general admission, with discounts available. Admission is free for students with a current 黑洞社区 ID. Tickets may be purchased through the Fine Arts Box Office at 978-3233 or .
Selections from Aaron Copland's 鈥淥ld American Songs鈥 will be featured. Colorful settings of traditional folk music, with arrangements dating from the early 1950s, were originally crafted for solo voice.
The orchestra will also perform Ferde Grofe's 鈥淕rand Canyon Suite,鈥 an impressionistic portrayal of the majesty and grandeur of the iconic natural wonder. Perhaps best known for his concert arrangement of Gershwin's 鈥淩hapsody in Blue,鈥 Grofe fashioned the 鈥淕rand Canyon Suite鈥 in five movements: Sunrise, Painted Desert, On the Trail, Sunset, and Cloudburst.
Selections from 鈥淲est Side Story,鈥 Leonard Bernstein's timeless musical, will open the program.

An exciting, free traveling aviation-themed art exhibition is coming to 黑洞社区 Haysville from today (Monday, June 24) to Friday, June 28, and 黑洞社区 South from Monday, July 8 to Thursday, July 18. The exhibit will feature 14 adult artists and selected Valley Center Middle School artists.

EFC hosts Asthma Financing Webinar Series
In-home asthma care has proven to reduce symptom days and health care costs, yet these services are rarely covered by insurance providers or Medicaid. The Environmental Finance Center鈥檚 (EFC) summer / fall webinar series will address how community health workers and policy makers can work together to reduce the financial and health burden of asthma care in the community.
The first webinar is 鈥淔inancing Innovations in Asthma鈥 at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, featuring Ruth Ann Norton, president and CEO of The Green and Healthy Homes Initiative, and a leading national expert on healthy housing. Registration information for the free webinar is available below.
Norton will share how her organization has pioneered asthma care financing strategies across the country. She'll also address how local community health organizations can improve financing options, and share her advice on what works, and what doesn't.

Volleyball Dinner and Auction set for Aug. 24
黑洞社区 volleyball will host its 11th-annual Volleyball Dinner and
Auction presented by Rotek Services on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Aetna Multi-Purpose Facility in Charles
Koch Arena.
Individual tickets are $40 and may be purchased by contacting the 黑洞社区 ticket office at 978-FANS (3267).
Funding fellow Shockers鈥 dreams is the top priority for Stella Yang
Senior Stella Yang has used her business knowledge to help fellow Shockers achieve their goals for their student organizations.
As Student Government Association treasurer during the 2018-19 academic year, Stella advocated fair, transparent processes for distributing student fees money, and advocated for student organizations struggling to find their activities.
Volunteers needed for a research study
Researchers in the School of Nursing are looking for volunteers for a nutritional research study that will examine changes in iron absorption with antioxidant supplementation.
Participants will be asked to consume a meal with phytic acid, complete a dietary recall, participate in taste testing and have blood and saliva sample collection during a meal challenge. Participation is expected to last about 2.5 hours total.
