Progress continues at YMCA and Student Wellness Center construction site; Provines to get new title
Representatives from Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) and Student Health Services (SHS) toured the Student Wellness Center construction site recently. The Student Wellness Center, located in the space adjacent to the YMCA fitness facilities, will house both departments. The center will provide students a single destination for their physical and mental health needs. Interim President Andy Tompkins, Vice President for Student Affairs Teri Hall and Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Aaron Austin also toured the new facilities.
The plan is to move into the new Student Wellness Center during the winter holiday break and be open for business at the start of the 2020 spring semester.
During the tour, Hall announced that Jessica Provines will be the new Assistant Vice President, Student Affairs, Wellness, starting with FY2020. Provines will retain director duties for CAPS and will have the SHS and Campus Rec departments reporting to her. These changes support the continued collaboration and focus on student well-being from a more holistic perspective.
