John W. Bardo Celebration of Life: ‘It’s a Great Day to be a Shocker’
ڶ will honor the life of late President John W. Bardo in a Celebration of Life tomorrow (Thursday, May 9) in the Rhatigan Student Center (RSC). Dr. Bardo, the 13th president of ڶ, died March 12, after a long illness.
Everyone is invited to see Bardo’s life display in the Cadman Art Gallery, on the first floor of the RSC now through Friday, May 10.
On Thursday, May 9, exhibits featuring Bardo will be on display from 2-2:45 p.m. in Astor Lounge, outside of the Shirley Beggs Ballroom, on the third floor of the RSC.
The Celebration of Life program with video remembrances begins at 2:30 p.m. in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom. Formal remarks will start at 3 p.m.
Immediately following the program, an ice cream social will be held from 4-5 p.m. on the RSC east patio, lawn and Groover Lounge.
General John M. ‘Mike’ Murray visits NIAR
This week, NIAR hosted General John M. "Mike" Murray, head of the Army Futures Command, along with U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, for a briefing on what role ڶ could potentially play with aviation technologies adapted to ground warfare.

Parking lot closures for May 9-12
Thursday, May 9: John W. Bardo Celebration of Life: “It’s a Great Day to be a Shocker”
No parking lots are specifically blocked for this day, but we are expecting a lot of visitors on campus. Parking Services will be out and about to help direct visitors attending the public Celebration of Life event at 3 p.m. to available parking, which will include the parking garage.
Friday, May 10: All of lot 18 outside Brennan Hall III will be blocked off for the Appreciation Day for our Veterans event.
Thursday-Sunday, May 9-12: All of lot 3 between Devlin Hall and Cessna Stadium, and the east half of lot 5 (Green lot east of Corbin Education Center), will be blocked for the AAC track meet. These lots will be blocked off early Wednesday night, to get them cleared and set up for the event.
Wichita State set to host American championships
The Wichita State track and field program will host the American Athletic Conference outdoor championships, May 10-12, at Cessna Stadium.
In its second year in the American Athletic Conference, Wichita State will host the 2019 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The three-day meet will feature 12 women's teams and 10 men's teams.

Final call for tours of The Suites
Tours of the Suites will conclude this Friday, May 10. Tours will resume when the building opens on Monday, June 3. At that point, interested parties may stop by the Suites front desk between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. for a Suites residence hall tour.
Tours are about 20 minutes in length, and will be offered now through Friday from 3:30-5 p.m.

No shuttles on Study Day, May 10; Metro route adjusted during Finals Week
Just a reminder that shuttles will not run on Study Day, Friday, May 10. Additionally, the Hughes Metropolitan Complex route will start 45 minutes earlier to accommodate students during finals Monday, May 13, to Thursday, May 16, with a start time at 6:45 a.m.
The shuttles end their service for this semester at the end of day on Thursday, May 16.
