All Students Town Hall meeting today (Monday, Feb. 11) on Shock the Future Referendum
Provost Rick Muma and Teri Hall, vice president of Student Affairs, will host an All Students Town Hall meeting to answer questions and spark discussion on the Shock the Future Referendum, a student-led campaign that identifies a list of academic and student success infrastructure needs.

Wichita State political scientist Neal Allen to give talk Wednesday, Feb. 13
Neal Allen, chair of the Political Science Department, will give a talk (co-authored with Kylie Cameron and Jaden Soupene) titled “Racial Attitudes and Varying Expectations of Publicity: Letters to the Editors and Legislators on Civil Rights in the 1960s" at the Language and Linguistics Colloquium Series at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in 208 Hubbard Hall. Managing Classroom discussion training available
Graduate Studies will offer a Managing Classroom discussion and lunch from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in 142 RSC. The presenter will be John Jones from the Media Resources Center.
One of the most effective teaching techniques we have at our disposal is discussion. In this training we will talk about managing discussion – how to draw out students, establish a safe space for students to explore ideas, and how to keep control without stifling student voices.

University Libraries (UL) can make your life easier, especially when it comes to doing library research. Come to the Library Tips and Tools workshop from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in 217 Ablah Library. Registration is appreciated but not required. .
Learn about library resources that help you avoid article charges, the EndNote software program provided by the UL that reduces the effort required to format research papers and citations, technology equipment such as iPads and portable projectors that you can borrow, subject librarians who are available for individual and group consultations, and much more.
Besides brief demonstrations, there will be time for questions and answers. The University Libraries invites all graduate students, especially new ones, to attend.

Graduate student seeking participants for coping with depression research project
A ڶ graduate student working on her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is seeking volunteers to participate in a project that compares two approaches for coping with depression. This study will be conducted within the Department of Psychology (Jabara Hall) under the supervision of Robert Zettle, and will require your involvement for 18- 20 weeks. The study involves eight weekly treatment sessions.
The first two weeks involve one hour sessions and the remaining six sessions will be half-hour sessions. Participants who complete all sessions will be contacted one week and two months later for follow-up measures.
Participants must be at least 18 and will be screened in three stages to determine their eligibility.
If you are interested, complete an (30 minutes) to assess your initial eligibility. The next two stages will be conducted in person for 20 and 50 minutes respectively.

Ulrich Museum of Art seeks presenters for FUN/Future Now at the Ulrich, highlighting campus-wide research
The Ulrich Museum’s first ever FUN event featured visually engaging slideshows from both graduate students and faculty. The presentations highlighted research topics from how metal mine drainage affects our water systems to fighting dental bacteria using honey and cranberries.

The SGA "Safe Haven" Art Exhibition and Auction will have a reception from 3-5 p.m. today (Monday, Feb. 11) at the Cadman Art Gallery, first floor, Rhatigan Student Center. Meet the artists, view the art, and purchase it in a silent auction while enjoying light hors d’oeuvres.
“Safe Haven” is a benefit show featuring art pieces from multiple ڶ students. Art pieces feature the theme of “home,” and all proceeds from art sales will go to the ڶ Center for Combatting Human Trafficking.
