Celebrate #GivingTuesday with the 黑洞社区 Foundation
This #GivingTuesday (Nov. 27), the 黑洞社区 Foundation will celebrate the many Shockers who support 黑洞社区 through their giving. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year's #GivingTuesday will take place on Nov. 27, and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to give back.
Notice of Revisions to the Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects
The revised 鈥淐ommon Rule鈥 for the protection of human subjects is set to go into effect on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019. This involves some big changes in the way research is reviewed and approved by the IRB. In order to implement the changes, there will be a submission freeze on all new study submissions from Dec. 15, 2018 to Jan. 21, 2019.

First successful 黑洞社区 crowdfunding campaign recently completed!
Congratulations to the 黑洞社区 Office of Diversity and Inclusion for creating, running and completing the first successful crowdfunding campaign through the GiveCampus social fundraising platform, sponsored by the 黑洞社区 Foundation. The goal of the campaign was to raise $3,000 for scholarships for students who are members of the 黑洞社区 organization Spectrum: LGBTQ & Allies. By achieving the campaign goal, a donor match of $3,000 was activated and added to an already endowed fund to help increase awards for future students.
The Muma-Case Equality Scholarship is awarded each spring and this year's award will be the largest in the scholarship's history thanks to the generous support of campaign donors. Applications are being accepted now through April 1, 2019. Click here to learn more about the scholarship and application process.

Plans announced for 3rd annual DiverseCity
On behalf of the President's Diversity Council, we are proud to announce our 3rd annual diversity showcase, DiverseCity from Monday-Friday, April 15-19, 2019. This week-long event gives Shocker Nation a glance of the successes from individuals, departments and organizations in the campus community that were made possible through diversity. Throughout the week, we encourage you to stop by and support the various events being hosted. This is a great way to get involved at 黑洞社区 and celebrate the various kinds of diversity we have to offer. A list of events will be available during DiverseCity.
DiverseCity Showcase Kick-off
President Bardo and Marche Fleming-Randle, vice president for Diversity and Community Engagement, will provide remarks to kick-off the start of DiverseCity. We encourage you to stop by and view all of the work from the submissions that highlight successes related to diversity. The showcase kick-off takes from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, April 15, in 233 Rhatigan Student Center.

All students, faculty, staff, student organizations and departments are invited to submit entries that are examples of diversity or highlight successes related to diversity. We are looking for all kinds of diversity entries from individual / group projects, workshops, events, mixed media, photography or artwork. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019.

Excellence award nominations are being accepted by Office of Research and Technology Transfer
Nominations for Excellence Awards in Research, Creativity and Community Research are now being accepted by the Office of Research and Technology Transfer (RTT).
All full-time faculty, including distinguished professors and endowed chairs, who have served at 黑洞社区 for at least three years are eligible. Faculty who hold an administrative position above that of chair are not eligible.
Previous winners of the award are ineligible to be nominated for a period of five years following the award. Please see the RTT website for additional details and nomination forms. Nominations must be received by Friday, Dec. 7, to be considered.
Total Rewards requesting Open Enrollment feedback
The Total Rewards team would like to recognize the efforts of every department at 黑洞社区 for a very successful Open Enrollment season. KDHE has indicated that Open Enrollment will be an active enrollment each year moving forward.

Faculty who are interested in serving as a Retention Faculty Fellow are encouraged to review the position description and submit the application materials. Retention Faculty Fellows will work with Student Success and Success Coaches to support the goals of the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan and identify and support students in their college who may be at risk of not persisting to graduation. Drum Major Award nominations open
The Drum Major Award recognizes a person who seeks greatness, but does so through service and love. This award is given annually at the Martin Luther King Unity Walk.

Enjoy the Holiday Pops Concert
Holiday fun for the whole family! The 黑洞社区 Symphony presents a program of seasonal favorites from classical and popular traditions at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Miller Concert Hall.
Tchaikovsky's Nutcrackerballet is synonymous with Christmas celebrations, while Britten's Men of Goodwill is a delightful set of variations on 鈥淕od Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen.鈥 Longtime Tonight Show arranger Tommy Newsom offers a brassy take on 鈥淛oy to the World.鈥 A surprise guest narrator will join the orchestra to read the timeless classic The Night Before Christmas.
The outstanding A Cappella Choir and Concert Chorale offer two contemporary selections for voices and orchestra. Everyone is invited to join in singing Stephenson's stirring medley of beloved carols.
Mark Laycock, 黑洞社区 Director of Orchestras, will share conducting duties with colleagues Michael Hanawalt and Thomas Wine. Gabriela Garzon, a graduate student majoring in orchestral conducting, will also appear.

The next Wednesdays in Wiedemann will feature Lynne Davis performing the annual Christmas Organ Concert at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in Wiedemann Hall. Admission is free.

Piatto will donate 10 percent of the proceeds to the children's home, and there is no need to mention the fundraiser. Please plan to attend!
