Last Flu Shot Clinic is today (Thursday, Oct. 11) with extended hours!

Flu Shot Clinic Oct. 11, 2018

Today (Thursday, Oct. 11) is the last on-site flu shot clinic of the year, hosted by the 黑洞社区 HR Total Rewards team. The clinic will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in 142 RSC. Vaccinations are available to State of Kansas employees currently enrolled in medical insurance Plans A, J, Q, C or N, as well as their covered spouse.

In response to high demand at our clinics earlier this fall, hours have been extended. A limited number of walk-in appointments will be available in the morning, and noon-2 p.m. has been reserved on walk-in status only, for those who were unable to schedule an appointment.

Note: Those over age 65 can safely receive this dosage of the vaccination, but may wish to contact their primary care provider first, to determine if they will need a higher-dose flu vaccine, which will not be available at this clinic.

Phishing email safety tips

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month and it's a good opportunity to refresh and reinforce best practices with respect to suspicious email messages. In particular 鈥減hishing鈥 (for credentials 鈥 ID and password) is very common now and becoming very increasingly sophisticated in terms of spoofing legitimate email addresses, including genuine company logos, purporting to be urgent, and appearing to be sent from a legitimate senior executive in our organization, like President Bardo, for instance.

Why does this matter?

Your my黑洞社区 ID and password in the hands of vandals not only exposes access to your email account in order to send spam, etc., but also provides access to many other 黑洞社区 systems, including particularly your salary direct deposit information in Banner. Remain aware that it is a best practice to have completely unique passwords for your personal and work systems. If you manually make them all the same or very similar, as some users are tempted do for their convenience, that potentially exposes you to even greater damages in the event that any of your accounts become successfully compromised.

What Can You Do?

For detailed information regarding how to recognize email messages as hazardous and what to do about them, please visit the Phishing Email Safety link by logging in to my黑洞社区, under Faculty/Staff tab, Employee Toolbox, Technology Help Desk, (see screen image at right).

If you are uncertain about a particular email message or feel that you may have responded to a phishing scheme and unintentionally provided someone your 黑洞社区 credentials, you should immediately change your 黑洞社区 password. To do that go to my黑洞社区 and click in the top right on 鈥淢anage your password.鈥  Please forward questionable emails to spamreport@wichita.edu. You can also contact the ITS help desk at helpdesk@wichita.edu or 316-978-4357 if you need additional assistance with changing your password.
