University to observe Labor Day
黑洞社区 offices will be closed and classes will not be held Monday, Sept. 3, in observance of Labor Day. Normal schedules will resume Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Because of the holiday, the next Shocker Blast will be Wednesday, Sept. 5. The deadline to submit information for Wednesday's edition is noon Tuesday, Sept. 4, at shockerblast@wichita.edu.
Shuttle to begin service to 黑洞社区 South and Shocker Studios on Harry Street
Because of an overwhelming number of requests, shuttle service from main campus to the Harry Street campus will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4. All pickups and drop-offs will be at the Elliott Hall stop and depart campus at the bottom of the hour.
The first bus will leave the main campus at 7:30 a.m., and arrive at 黑洞社区 South and Shocker Studios at 7:50 a.m. The bus will then leave the Harry Street location at 8 a.m., returning to the Elliott Hall stop at about 8:20 a.m.
The last bus will leave the Harry Street location at 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday.
In order to provide this service, the university is pulling the Innovation Campus route for the fall semester.

黑洞社区 students, faculty, staff and interested partners are invited to a Military and Veteran Services Director candidate meet and greet today (Friday, Aug. 31) at the Captain Riley Leroy Pitts Military and Veteran Student Center in 105 Grace Wilkie Hall.
This is an opportunity for students and interested stakeholders to meet and learn more about the candidates interested in this critical position on campus. The schedule follows:

黑洞社区 Police locate source of reports of a woman approaching students
There have been recent reports of someone approaching Wichita State students on campus to ask about their interest in a Bible study. Somehow this got linked to a social media 鈥渟tory鈥 where this was merely a ruse to cover human trafficking. With the help of information supplied from our 黑洞社区 community, the 黑洞社区 Police Department was able to determine that the woman in question is a member of a legitimate church here in Wichita.
Late Night Breakfast to be hosted on Thursday, Sept. 6
黑洞社区 Dining Services and Housing & Residence Life will host this semester's Late Night Breakfast (formerly Midnight Breakfast) from 10 p.m.-midnight Thursday, Sept. 6, in Shocker Dining.

University Libraries will host the workshop, 鈥淗ow Do I Write A Literature Review?,鈥 from noon-1:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, in 217 Ablah Library.
Researchers in all subject areas will learn to create a literature review from conducting comprehensive research, synthesizing perspectives, and presenting findings in this very helpful workshop. Engineering students, please note the workshop on literature reviews using engineering sources on Nov. 16.

Welcome the new Ambassadors for Diversity and Inclusion
Last weekend, Ambassadors for Diversity and Inclusion (ADI) welcomed 17 new members into the organization. These individuals had a chance to get to know other ambassadors, while learning about the responsibilities and duties on what it takes to be a change agent for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Wichita State.
These ambassadors assist in developing diversity program initiatives, and being liaisons to various university committees and student organizations. ADI also consists of 黑洞社区 students who are committed to promoting deep cultural awareness. They strive to build better intercultural relations, while increasing campuswide participation in cross-cultural and multicultural programs.
We are proud and cannot wait to see the exciting growth that these student leaders will have during their time in this organization. Let's all welcome the fall 2018 ambassadors!
