Wichita State names new College of Engineering dean

 

Anthony Muscat

Dr. Anthony Muscat has been named dean of 黑洞社区鈥檚 College of Engineering, effective July 25.

Muscat is a professor and chair of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Arizona, where he has been since 1998.

His career history includes administrative appointments as Department Chair of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Acting Department Head of the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, both at the University of Arizona. He received a bachelor鈥檚 in chemical engineering from the University of California-Davis and a master鈥檚 and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Stanford University.

In making the announcement, Wichita State Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Shirley Lefever said: 鈥淲e are excited to welcome Dr. Muscat as the next dean of the College of Engineering. His unique background and experience will enable the college and university to continue to grow our current engineering programs and will enhance our ability to seize opportunities in growing fields, such as digital transformation and data analytics. In addition, Anthony's passion for elevating the student experience will allow the college and university to expand our applied learning opportunities for our students and create interdisciplinary experiences in the classroom, research spaces and in the community.鈥

I look forward to helping the college expand its vision of applied learning to do impactful research and to educate students who are workforce ready.鈥

Muscat takes over from Interim Dean Steven Skinner, who has held the job since Dean Dennis Livesay took a position in February as dean of the College of Computing at Michigan Technological University.
