Organ, clarinet, orchestra, robots, Andy Warhol, musical theater with guest director Wayne Bryan and jazz from New Orleans are all part of the September mix of events from the College of Fine Arts.
The Marcussen organ will be showcased in 鈥淲ednesdays at Wiedemann鈥 with distinguished professor Lynne Davis, and later in the month by Frederick Swann in the Rie Bloomfield Organ Series. The Faculty Artist Series will feature clarinetist Suzanne Tirk.The Ulrich Museum of Art has a fun and fascinating robots exhibit and starts a new Andy Warhol show.
The School of Performing Arts will welcome Wayne Bryan, renowned director of Music Theatre of Wichita, as director for its first musical of the year, the ever-popular 鈥淗ow to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.鈥
Finally, a special treat for jazz lovers will close out the month when Craig Owens, director of jazz studies, and the School of Music bring in The Astral Project, hailed by The JazzTimes as 鈥渙ne of the most adventurous working units in modern jazz today.鈥 Considered New Orleans鈥 premier modern jazz ensemble since 1978, it鈥檚 a co-op band of world-class improvisers who continuously impress fans and critics around the world.
