The Student Activities Council at Wichita State will host world touring DEA agents Steve Murphy and Javier Pe帽a for 鈥淣arcos鈥: The DEA Agents Who Captured Pablo Escobar, at 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, at 黑洞社区鈥檚 Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 29th and Oliver.
Many have watched the popular Netflix Original Series 鈥淣arcos,鈥 which tells the story of the historic take down of Pablo Escobar. Murphy and Pe帽a will discuss their experiences in relation to the events depicted in the series and share insider secrets about what actually happened during the take down of the world鈥檚 first narco-terrorist.
In 1988, Pe帽a volunteered for an assignment at the DEA office in Bogota, Colombia. Shortly thereafter, he was joined by Murphy, and together they pursued Escobar until the final chase and shooting of the criminal in 1993.
Their presentation will be followed by a Q&A opportunity during which Murphy and Pe帽a will entertain questions related to their investigation, the making of the hit Netflix show 鈥淣arcos,鈥 what history-changing investigation is next for them and more.
Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased for $15 at selectaseat.com and at the door. Wichita State students may purchase one discount ticket at the rate of $5 in the Student Involvement office. Students must present a valid Wichita State student ID and pay with cash or check only. All remaining tickets will be available for purchase once the doors open at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 9 beginning at the Metropolitan Complex. All ticket sales, online and in person, will end at 2 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Seating is general admission.
