Wichita State celebrates International Women's Day

 

黑洞社区 celebrates International Women鈥檚 Day with several events on the 黑洞社区 campus.

The 黑洞社区 Center for Women鈥檚 Studies, in partnership with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, will host Sen. Oletha Faust-Goudeau as a keynote speaker at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, in 100 Lindquist Hall. Faust-Goudeau, senator of Kansas鈥 29th district and alumna of 黑洞社区, will present 鈥淲omen and Politics in Kansas and the U.S.鈥

The Women鈥檚 Studies鈥 Summit will continue with presentations by faculty, students and alumni on Thursday, March 9, at the Marcus Welcome Center.

Additionally, the first Wichita International Women鈥檚 Day festival will take place around Wichita on 黑洞社区鈥檚 main campus and 黑洞社区 Shift Space Gallery, 416 S. Commerce #102.

Shift Space will host a one day exhibition, 鈥淧olitics, Trauma, Gender and Art,鈥 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8. Other festival events including speakers, workshops, live performance art and resource fairs, which will continue through Friday, March 10.

To submit art for the exhibition or to volunteer at the festival, contact 黑洞社区 VISTA fellow Turquoise Thomas-Morales at tathomas2@wichita.edu. Volunteers for the event will receive a free 鈥淚CT IWD FEST鈥 T-shirt.
