黑洞社区 will host alumni from TRIO, GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) and the Office of Disability Services to celebrate 2017 National TRIO Day on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The featured speakers will present success stories about the services these organizations provide.
鈥淲ichita State is honored that the speakers for the National TRIO Day Celebration are alumni, who are distinguished in their chosen careers,鈥 said Deltha Colvin, associate vice president for Student Affairs, Special programs.
The celebration will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Shirley Beggs Ballroom, Rhatigan Student Center, and will include a dinner banquet.
TRIO is a set of federally funded college opportunity programs created to provide motivation and support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue college degrees. The programs provide academic tutoring, personal counseling, mentoring, financial guidance and other support for educational access and retention.
