The 黑洞社区 Center for Economic Education and the Kansas Council for Economic Education will present a free training workshop, "Understanding Fiscal Responsibility."
The training will take place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in 203 Clinton Hall and will introduce issues surrounding the federal budget, national debt and budget deficit into high school curriculum.
The nonpartisan, research-based and inquiry-driven curriculum will use fiscal policy dilemmas to help students focus on current national policy issues and think through problems on their own.
Teachers will receive food and drink along with a $20 stipend to attend the training.
The workshop and the accompanying materials are made available through the support of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation and the Council for Economic Education.
Participants in the workshop will gain familiarity with the curriculum, understanding of how to use it in instruction and access to lessons on fiscal policy and professional development videos.
