The President鈥檚 Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) needs you.
The committee, formed in January at the behest of 黑洞社区 President John Bardo, comprises 黑洞社区 administrators, faculty, staff and students from across campus. It has been charged to develop a lasting framework to identify, assess and implement ideas that can positively impact the budget.
In weekly committee and subcommittee meetings, most of which have been open to the public, the group has worked to create a process that is transparent, inclusive and collaborative, while ensuring that as many money-saving and revenue-generating ideas as possible are gathered and receive consideration based on their merits.
"In a time of scarce resources, the committee felt it was important to draw upon the tremendous intellectual and problem-solving abilities of our campus community to have maximum impact," said Werner Golling, vice president for administration and finance and co-chairman of the committee.
The Budget Advisory Committee has launched a simple to gather ideas. Ideas collected from the form will be assessed by the committee and the most promising of them will be publicly posted on a to seek public comment and gauge interest. Public input will also be sought in open forums held regularly throughout the year.
"We want to cast a wide net,鈥 Golling said. 鈥淚t doesn't matter if the idea comes from faculty, staff, a student or a member of the community -- we're all stakeholders in the university, and we all benefit when good ideas are identified and put into action. We鈥檙e hopeful that the blog will spin off new approaches and opportunities worthy of exploration."
The committee will weigh submissions against four prioritization criteria before making recommendations to the President's Executive Team.
The criteria are:
- Effect on enrollment / retention;
- Revenue generation / cost savings;
- Strategic plan alignment; and
- Impact on accreditation compliance.
