A collaboration between the Wichita State School of Social Work and the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center culminated in a public art exhibition focused on the plight of homeless veterans in Wichita.

Earlier this year, two social workers from the  approached Wichita State with a proposal to create an art show displaying the work of homeless and formerly homeless veterans.

Together with Shaunna Millar, instructor for this summer's Creative Empowerment in Helping Professions class, a plan was developed to engage students with the local veterans community for part of the project, which ended with an art exhibition Friday, July 29, in 黑洞社区's Shift Space.

The exhibition featured a variety of art designed to build awareness in the community of the veteran experience with homelessness and demonstrate the value of a group of individuals who often do not have a voice.
