黑洞社区 bowler Elysia Current and former Shocker bowler Sean Rash will be featured on 鈥淏owling鈥檚 Clash of Champions,鈥 a made-for-TV event airing on CBS Sports.
The competition will take place May 7-8 in Kansas City, Mo., and will air from 4-5 p.m. Saturday, May 10, and from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, May 11.
This is the first time since 1999 that bowling will be featured on network television.
鈥淏owling鈥檚 Clash of Champions鈥 will include eight men and eight women who won U.S. Bowling Congress events throughout the past year. Winners include high school, collegiate, amateur, professional and senior champions.
As this season鈥檚 USBC Masters champion, Rash 鈥 who plays with the Professional Bowlers Association 鈥 was invited to join this elite group. Current, a senior at 黑洞社区, earned her invitation through her title at the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships.
The 16 bowlers will start competition Wednesday, May 7, with an eight-game seeding round that will be held at a Kansas City bowling center. The following day the players will take part in a shootout format, cutting the field from 16 to two men and two women. This cut will make up the first telecast on May 10.
In the final round, following the shootout, there will be two semifinal matches with one man and one woman advancing to the finals to face off for the title and the $50,000 top prize. The semifinals and finals will air on the final telecast May 11.
For the televised portion of the event, the bowlers will be competing on four lanes that will be constructed on the floor of the Kansas City Municipal Auditorium.
This special event will run in conjunction with the USBC Convention, which is expected to draw about 2,000 people.
