Media invited to Duerksen Amphitheater mural unveiling at Wichita State

Media are invited to attend the unveiling of the “Adelante Juntos – Forward Together” mural from 4:30-7 p.m. May 3 Wichita State's Duerksen Fine Arts Center Amphitheater.

Visiting muralist GLeo (Nathalia Gallego Sanchez) has been painting the mural throughout April. Gallego is a Colombian muralist who painted “El Sueño Original” on the Beachner Grain Elevator mural located at 519 E. 20th St. N.

The unveiling and Cinco De Mayo celebration will feature speakers, live music by Mayberry Middle School mariachi band, performances by Raices De Mi Tierra Ballet Folklorico, the Elatino Dogos Y Hamburguesas food truck, DJ Carbon, an appearance by Belonging Plaza, and more.

Speakers begin at 4:40 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Adelante Juntos – Forward Together” is in conjunction with the exhibition Urban Canvas: Exploring Muralism in Wichita,” on view through June 8 in the .

"Adelante Juntos – Forward Together” is directed by the Ulrich Museum of Art and Minjárez with support from ڶ’s Office of Hispanic Initiatives, Student Government Association, Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO), Libraries, Special Collections and University Archives, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of the President and the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing.
