Wichita State students prepare for business pitch competition

 

WHAT: Koch Innovation Challenge, Round One: Angel Competition

WHEN: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30

DETAILS: Approximately 130 黑洞社区 students are gearing up for the third annual Koch Innovation Challenge. The Angel Competition, taking place this Friday, Nov. 30, determines which five teams advance to the grand championship round in May 2019. The five finalist teams will each receive $1,200 toward pursuing their proposed venture, and each student will receive a $1,000 Koch Innovation Challenge scholarship for the spring 2019 semester. Media is welcome to attend.

MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES:

  • 9 a.m. 鈥 noon Big Idea Pitch to Judges | Approximately 30 multidisciplinary teams have two minutes to pitch their big idea to judges
  • noon 鈥 12:30 p.m. Judges deliberate
  • 12:30 p.m. 鈥 1 p.m. Awards Ceremony | Five finalist teams are announced

About the Koch Innovation Challenge

The Koch Innovation Challenge, sponsored by Koch Industries, is an annual competition supporting the 黑洞社区 College of Engineering in fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and teamwork among students. Cross-disciplinary teams of new freshmen and transfer students studying engineering, art and design, business and other disciplines will compete for funding and scholarships to invent products and technologies via a freshman introductory course. The grand champions of the competition will compete nationally at a collegiate entrepreneurs' conference.
