Committee members ratings are averaged.ЂStudents scored an average of 86% on two anthropological essays. (Overall difference in grading between two experienced faculty graders = 3 - 3.5 % per question).8Twenty-six of 29 students (89.7%) scored 2.0 or better ЂMore than expected, students demonstrated a grasp of method and theory in undergraduate anthropology, sufficient for them to pursue graduate work in anthropology.Five graduates returned the survey and identified great satisfaction with the program. (Note: This information can also be used to assess teaching methods, approaches, student motivation and learning issues.)ѕPre and post-test changes in student produced scores on pre and post-test, made up of 16 multiple choice sample questions over purpose, ethics, methods and interpretation in archaeological anthropology, ranged form an increase of 7% to 16%. 2The student responses demonstrate improvement in all four categories but were the most successful in "Ethics" and "Methods" with an average gain of 16% and 7% toward the preferred answer and less successful in "Purpose" and "Interpretation with average gains of 8% and 12% toward the preferred response. %The results show how student learning and critical thinking skills are enhanced. Yet questions of presentation of the interpretative role of archaeology may need to be addressed. For instance, Question #4,  Archaeologists reconstruct forgotten cultures and through scientific methods show exactly what the past was like had a predominantly non-preferred answer in the pre-test that subsequently increased in the post-test.
