We continue to refine, improve and streamline the categories and questions to reflect curriculum developments. An annual Content Measure (self-assessment) can be discerned through learner outcomes such as those provided by final student papers and projects at the upper-level. These papers/projects are read and rated by all faculty members in accordance with a check sheet of objectives for the major. This gives us the opportunity to read student papers from each others classes which is very enlightening and gives us a more nuanced view of the major. Those objectives on the Check Sheet for Assessment of the Womens Studies Major that do not accurately reflect what we are doing in the courses we teach, are revised, updated, readjusted, or eliminated. This year, we consolidated reworded five questions; we eliminated one question; we added one question. We included words popular and interpretive to address visual representations, and we developed two questions using feminism in a general sense and feminisms in a particular, historical sense. As a Department, we continue to check ourselves to make sure that we are doing what we say we are doing through the objectives. Objectives for the major are evaluated (depending on if it is warranted) and revised to better reflect departmental goals.
